Vandenburgh Vigil

Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) is a key player in developing, testing, and launching missiles and satellites. You can find out more about what is happening at the base by visiting www.vandenbergwitness.org. There is a monthly vigil at the main gate to VAFB.  Currently we meet here from 3:45pm to 4:45pm on the first Wednesday of each month.  A few Quakers attend this vigil along with other people.  There is not a single focus for the vigils.  There are signs protesting war; particular wars; weapons in space; drones; ICBM’s; nuclear weapons to name a few issues.  These vigils are generally peaceful.  VAFB is informed that we are coming and are expecting us.  Sometimes (rarely) some individuals will perform some act of civil disobedience and be arrested.  There are other people who are on a “Ban and Bar” list, who may also be arrested for just being there.    If you would like to join us there, or perhaps car pool with us, contact James B. Robertson: SB local area code + 967-7283 or robertson68@cox.net .
